He made his international debut for South Africa in November 2014 by becoming only the third South African to score a century on debut. Hendricks was born in Kimberley, South Africa, on August 14, 1989. He made his first-class debut for Griqualand West in 2009-10. He played for Griqualand West until 2016, when he moved to the Lions. Hendricks made his T20 International debut for South Africa in November 2014 against Australia.

He scored 49 runs in his debut innings. He also played in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Hendricks made his One Day International debut for South Africa in August 2018 against Sri Lanka. He scored 102 runs in his debut innings, becoming the third South African to score a century on ODI debut.
