Matheesha Pathirana Career, He is a Sri Lankan cricketer who made his international debut in 2022. He is known for his fast bowling and yorker delivery, which has earned him the nickname “Baby Malinga” after former Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga.

Pathirana was born in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on 18 December 2002. He began playing cricket at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks of the Sri Lankan youth system. He was a member of the Sri Lankan team that won the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Pathirana made his first-class debut for Kandy in 2021. He took 17 wickets in five matches, including a best of 5 for 42 against Sri Lanka A. He also made his List A debut for Kandy in 2021, taking 10 wickets in three matches.

Pathirana was selected for Sri Lanka’s T20I squad for their series against Australia in May 2022. However, he was ruled out of the series due to an injury. He made his T20I debut for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan in August 2022, taking 2 for 35. Pathirana made his ODI debut for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan in June 2023. He took 1 for 47 in his first ODI match. Pathirana is a promising young bowler who has the potential to be a star for Sri Lanka. He has a lot of talent and is still learning the game.
