CWC 2023 Trent Boult Reveals His World Cup Ambitions, and Trent Boult, the skill pacer from New Zealand. Boult’s devastating pace, pinpoint accuracy, and ability to extract movement off the pitch make him a potent force in the Kiwi’s bowling attack. With his ability to generate early breakthroughs and trouble batters with his swing, Boult’s contributions have been vital for his team. Boult is New Zealand’s highest wicket-taker in ODI World Cups, with 39 wickets averaging 21.79 from just two editions, 2015 and 2019, and will again be expected to be their frontline seam bowler along with Tim Southee. New Zealand quick Trent Boult, who last played an ODI nearly a year ago and had given up his national contract to focus on T20 franchise cricket, is “as hungry as ever” to represent his country again and lift the World Cup. Boult returned to the ODI squad for the upcoming series against England, vital to New Zealand’s preparation for the World Cup in India. Boult was part of the last two World Cup finals when New Zealand finished runners-up to Australia and England. His last appearance for the Black Caps in an ODI was in September 2022. During Boult’s absence from the New Zealand team, he missed 35 international matches across formats

Boult’s key focus after returning to the national side:

Boult, the country’s top fast bowler, is harboring a solid determination to achieve the highest honor in the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, set to take place in India from October 5 to November 19.

“Yeah, definitely as hungry as ever to still represent the country, and hopefully do something special with the guys over the next couple of months. I can’t wait,” Boult was quoted as saying by ICC.

Moving away from New Zealand cricket wasn’t an easy decision a year ago. I never wanted it to be about New Zealand or franchise cricket. Boult has rejoined the national training camp at Bay Oval in New Zealand. CWC 2023 Trent Boult Reveals His World Cup Ambitions In a conversation with reporters following his return, the 34-year-old expressed his eagerness to wear the national colors again and play for the country in the upcoming months.

For Boult, the aspiration extends beyond simply reaching the final stage; his goal is to shatter the “World Cup curse” that has haunted New Zealand, especially since their near miss in the 2019 World Cup final. Despite their valiant effort, the team fell agonizingly short of claiming the championship.

“I have always had this in the back of my mind to come back and work towards an ODI World Cup. There’s history involved there. The times we had in previous campaigns have been very exciting. I’m just hungry to get involved and hopefully play a significant role.

“I’m just thinking about hopefully lifting something pretty shiny that we were pretty close to four years ago. That’s the biggest focus.”

New Zealand’s prospects in the quadrennial event:
