Australia Squad for World Cup 2023

The thirteenth edition of the ICC World Cup will take place in India, with the tournament being hosted solely by India for the first time. The ICC has released the complete schedule for the event, which is set to run from October 5 to November 19. Pat Cummins Injury and His Inclusion:

The squad will be led by regular captain Pat Cummins who, despite suffering a fractured wrist during the Ashes, is expected to be fit and ready before the World Cup begins. Cummins had been advised to rest for six weeks, and the right arm pacer hopes to return before the commencement of the World Cup. Chief Selector George Bailey revealed Cummins has an undisplaced fracture of his left radius, which requires six weeks of rehabilitation, but believes the rest before the start of the tournament will do him good. There are still several games before the World Cup, which is enough for him to have a strong preparation for the marquee event. Australia will prepare for the World Cup with a five-match series against South Africa in South Africa and three against India in India.

Why did Marnus Labuschagne not in the squad?

The Marnus exclusion from the squad surprises everyone. Australia has left out Marnus Labuschagne from their initial squad for the CWC 2023. The reason for that is his bad form in this format. In 28 innings, he averages 31.37 with a strike rate of 83.20. In Asia, his numbers drop further as his average slips to 28.91 and his strike rate to 77.45. With many all-rounder options in the squad, Australia has decided to leave Labuschagne out.
